Michael Duch is a finance professional with over 25 years experience in the industry. Michael has an extensive background in financial planning, including experience working for a family business and operating his own business. After years of extensive training and education, Michael is currently Vice President and one of three partners of Schwan Financial Group, a national financial and estate planning firm that helping families and businesses efficiently pass their wealth on to future generations.
Michael Duch has been Vice President and Partner of Schwan Financial Group for over 11 years. Schwan Financial Group commits themselves to delivering results to client’s objectives through creative processes and a team approach. With a unique and simple process, Schwan Financial Group employs their Clarity Experience and Ideal Plan Process to actively listen to their clients’ unique needs and objectives to formulate and deliver an ‘ideal result’. Their Master Plan Management System™ helps their clients define their goals, which is then integrated, managed and communicated in a customized plan for individuals, their families and the generations to follow.
As Vice President, Michael is accountable for the Investment Portfolio team, including portfolio design and management. Michael’s primary responsibility at Schwan Financial Group is to ensure a seamless integration of client portfolios to their Master Plan, cash flow needs, and allocations. Michael coordinates with both internal and external advisors to ensure his team accomplishes client goals and objectives. Together they help clients define the psychonomics or “the why to plan” with their fundamental rule of good listening.
Prior to Michael’s work at Schwan Financial Group he worked as Vice President in a family business, Aberdeen TV & Appliance Inc. At the time, Aberdeen TV & Appliance Inc. was the largest TV and appliance dealer in the Midwest. They pioneered and introduced microwave ovens, video cassette player-recorders, and satellite TV systems for the home use in the Midwest. After that, he was President of Video to Go™, which pioneered video movie rental services in Northeastern South Dakota and Southeastern North Dakota. They operated 24 video rental outlets in the area.
In 1992, Michael A. Duch joined Schwan Financial as an Advisor, providing portfolio design and analysis for wealth accumulation and cash flow solutions either for client needs or objectives. He was accountable for creation, operation and maintenance of risk-managed and tax efficient portfolio allocations as well as comprehensive integrated portfolio reporting and delivery. Schwan later underwent a merger with Eide Bailly, PLLP, to provide financial and estate planning services through their firm, making them the 16th largest accounting firm in the US. There, Michael spent four years as Vice President and Advisor at Legacy Builders Resource Group, LLC where he provided supervisory oversight of Registered Representatives and client service for nine offices located in six states. In 2003, Schwan returned to a private practice where Michael became partner and Vice President.
Michael A. Duch is the face to several professional designations, including Registered Financial Consultant (RFC) conferred by the International Institute of Registered Financial Consultants, Certified Fund Specialist (CFS) issued by the Institute of Business and Finance, and Court of the Table member to the Million Dollar Round Table. He is a Chairman of the Finance & Investment Committee and a member of the Board of Trustees at Presentation College. Michael also serves the Diocese of Sioux Falls as a member of the investment committee and South Dakota Education Access Foundation (SDEAF) as a member of its Board of Directors.
